Elevator for the scaffold

Ascenseur for the scaffold is a French film, the first of Louis Malle, left in 1958.

Synopsis

Julien Tavernier, former para, achieves a perfect crime: he assassinates his owner with the assistance of his wife of which he is the lover. Wanting to remove a compromising index, it is found blocked in the elevator which overrides the spot of the crime. Its accomplice in vain awaits it the coffee, then spends the night to seek his trace… Meanwhile, a young deliveryman steals his car to him to impress his boyfriend, then panic and keep silent two German tourists…
