Element HTML

In data processing, a element HTML indicates the structure of a document HTML. To version 4.01 included of this format, an element HTML is an element SGML which satisfies the Exigence S of one or more Définitions of the Type of Document (DTD) of HTML.

These elements have properties: attributes and contents, as specified (at the same time authorized and required) according to DTD HTML suitable (for example, HTML 4.01 strict DTD).

The elements can represent headings, paragraphs, Hypertext links, lists, mediae encapsulated, and various other structures.

Version 4 of HTML comprises 91 elements.

Level block and level text

The majority of the elements HTML are classified either on the level block, or on the level text.

Elements of level block - such as titles, paragraphs, lists, or tables - It is of " grandes" structures which contain other blocks, elements text, or text. In general, they are posted like " blocs" separated from the other blocks by vertical spaces (margins).

Éléments of level text - such as the hyperlinks, the quotations, or images - is of " petites" structures which represent or describe small pieces of texts or Donnée S. They can contain only text or other elements of level text, and are usually posted one after the other on a line inside the block which contains them.

Elements of the document

(to be translated)

The elements roots provide the containers which contain all other elements HTML. Each page HTML contains these elements. The surrounding beacons can be omitted. However, if that is done, certain utilities can not recognize or handle correctly the document.

Delimits a document HTML (i.e in the place of a document XML or a class). Element HTML takes the attribute Lang like primary education language for the document (like en for English). The only contents authorized for an element HTML are either an element head and an element body, or an element head element and an element frameset element.

Delimits the section of heading of the document, which contains information on the Web page. The head element contains mainly the metadata for the document. There are seven possible elements of heading which include a meta element for an extensible specification of the metadata.

Delimits the section of the body of the document.

These elements roots are organized as follows:

<html>

< head>
Any off the various head related elements arranged in any order and occurring any number off times except base and title which edge only occur ounce each. Title is the only required head element.
< /head>
< body>
Can have like direct children only elements of the type %block in strict HTML, but also admits elements of the type %inline or anonymous text in transitional HTML.
</body>
< /html>

Elements of heading

The element title is the only obligatory element of a document HTML. August 1st

August 1st

This element specifies the bonds towards other documents, like the bonds previous (preceding) and next (according to), or of the alternate versions versions. A heading HTML can contain an unspecified number of elements link. The element link has attributes, but not contents. Is usually used it to create bonds with external style sheets, by using the following formulation:

August 1st

August 1st

August 1st

See also: Element meta

This element can be used to specify the author, the publication date, the scratch date, the description of page, the key words and very other Métadonnée which is not provided through the other elements and attributes of heading (head). Because of their generic character, the elements meta specify key-been worth even (to be translated).

In a form, the elements meta can specify the headings HTTP which must be sent before the real contents when the page HTML is been used of a Web server for the customer. For example:

< meta http-equiv=" foo" content=" bar" >

This example specifies that the page must be been useful with a heading HTTP called “foo” which has a value “bar”.

In the general form, a Métaélément specifies the name (name) and the attributes of Contenu (content) associated which describe aspects of the page HTML. In order to avoid possible ambiguities, a third optional attribute scheme can be provided to specify a semantic framework which defines the significance of the key and its value. For example:

<meta name=" foo" content=" bar" scheme=" DC" >

In this example, the meta element is identified like:

  • containing the element “foo”,
  • with a value of “bar”,
  • of the resource description framework cd. or Dublin Core .

For more information on the use of the Métaélément in HTML, to see specification W3C.

Block

Many elements HTML are conceived to modify the semantic structure or the significance of a document. Some are on the level block, but the majority are on the level line and can be included in the body of normal text.

Elements block generals

< p> : Create a paragraph, perhaps the element most common to the level block. The beacon of closing is not necessary in HTML.

Set of frameworks

English term: frameset

A document HTML contains either an element body, or an element frameset. This last then defines the extent of the window of posting where will appear the executives (elements frame) which it contains. Each framework contains a document HTML with whole share.

The element noframes makes it possible to define alternate contents for the user agents which do not implement the technology of the executives.

  • the plays of framework make it possible to divide Donnée S by employing an element OBJECT in element HEAD of a document frameset:
Sharing dated among frames
  • It is also possible to take a frame for target of other document HTML.
For that, it is enough to assign a name with the frame via the attribute " name" , he will then be considered by the " authors" like the target (" target") bonds defined by other documents. Attribute TARGET can be placed for elements which create bonds (has, LINK), of the image maps (AREA), and of the forms (FORM).
