The electronic porte-monnaie (or SME ) is an hybrid between the Espèces and the bank deposit and is physically appeared as a Smart card of payment préchargée.

Its characteristics are the speed (flow or credit in a few seconds) and the Anonymat as for the material Monnaie. In rule general, recharging is carried out:

  • on special terminals (in the banks,…)
  • on the TPE (payment terminal electronic) of the tradesmen.
The payment is carried out on the TPE of the tradesmen or in the automats and distributers.

One also distinguishes:

  • SME with chart “without contact”, integrated for example into a cellphone
  • more traditional SME requiring the introduction of the chart into the reading device.

The amounts concerned with the transactions are about small the Monnaie (distributer, automat, coffee, bakery, newspaper, parking meter, etc).
