Electronarcosis
The electronarcosis is a process causing the dizzy spell following the crossing of the brain by a Electric current.
Use in slaughter-house
This technique is used for the Volaille S and possibly for the Porcin S in order to them Anesthésie R before they are bled in a Abattoir.
Protocol
One can quote here the procedure to follow in the case of a goose.
“Electronarcosis is lavished by means of a grip provided with two electrode S which is placed on the eyes of goose, the period of validity is chosen by the operator. In the Slaughter-house S industrialists, the geese are hung then conveyed on a Convoyeur which involves them towards a vat filled with a electrolyte. There are two electrode S, one is in contact with the leg of goose and the other is inside the vat, the animal receives an electric shock when it plunges its head in the vat. ”

“3. Electronarcosis
a) Electrode S
i) The electrode S must be placed so as to enclose the brain in order to make it possible the current to cross the brain. It is appropriate, in in addition to, to take the appropriate measures to ensure a good contact electric and in particular to eliminate excesses from wool or to wet the skin.
II) When the animals are individually thoughtless, equipment must:
a) to be equipped with a device measuring the impedance load and preventing the apparatus from functioning if the necessary minimal current does not pass;
b) to be equipped with a sound or visual device indicating the duration of application to an animal;
c) to be connected to a device, placed so as to be clearly visible for the operator, indicating the Tension and the intensity of the current.
b) Water baths
i) When étourdisseurs with water bath are used to daze the poultries, the level of water must be adjustable so as to allow a good contact with the head of the bird. The intensity and the duration of the current used in this case must be clean to guarantee that the animal is immediately plunged in a state of Unconsciousness until its death.
II) When the poultries are thoughtless groups some in a water bath, a sufficient voltage to produce a current having a intensity effective to ensure the dizzy spell of each poultry will be maintained.
III) It is advisable to take the appropriate measures to ensure one good passage of the current and in particular a good contact and damping known as contact between the legs and the hooks of suspension.
iv) The water baths intended for the Volaille S must be of a size and a depth adapted to the type of Volaille S to cut down and they should not overflow at the entry. The electrode immersed must correspond to the length of the water bath.
v) If necessary a manual help must be available. ”
