Electromechanical relay

A electromechanical relay is a electrotechnical Organe very common in , it is charged to transmit an order of the part orders with the power part of an electrical appliance, it allows a galvanic Isolement amongst other things between the two parts.

Description

A relay is made up mainly of a electromagnet, which when it is fed, transmits a force to a system of electric Commutation: the contacts.
  • the electromagnet can be, according to the specifications and needs, fed in TBT 5  V ~ 48  V or in BT 110  V ~ 400  V.

  • the switching system can be made up of one or more Interrupteur S simple effect, of one or more Inverseur S. These switches are adapted to the running S and the range of tensions to be transmitted to the power part.
  • In the systems implementing a certain power, one calls the relays of the Contacteur S.
  • Divers systems Mécanique S or pneumatic S can create a delay with the interlocking or the relaxation.
  • In certain relays, a mechanical part annexes allows a blocking of the switches in a precise position.
  • Some are even provided with two winds S: to engage commutation, the other to stop it.

Uses

  • the function first of the relays is generally to separate the control circuits, of the power circuits: at ends of Insulation and very often of Amplification of the tensions and running S.
  • One can also use them to create switching functions adapted, as it was the case for the first computers.
  • the relays are used in very great quantity in the systems of telephone commutation electromechanical STN; they it are always but to a lesser extent replaced by electronic and Informatique, in the current switches.

Evolution

The relays known as static S, entirely electronic S, advantageously replace in many situations the electromechanical relays. A better commutation rate, silencers, insensitive with the vibrations, are some their advantages on electromechanics. On the other hand they support, sometimes, very badly the strong currents of Court-circuit although they are generally equipped with internal protections.
