Electromagnetic prospection
The electromagnetic prospection is a technique of exploration Géophysique based on the variations of resistivity of the basement, detected by their effect on an electric field or magnetic.
Principle
The transmitting device can be an electric dipole similar to that of the electric Prospection or a loop of current inducing a vertical magnetic field and which encircles the zone to be prospected. In airborne it is a loop which joint ends of the fuselage and wings of the plane. The receiving device can be an electric dipole similar to that of the electric Prospection or a magnetometer.
The emitted signal is in general a crenel. The measured signal is the subject either of a fréquenciel treatment or of a treatment of the transient.
The electromagnetic prospection is adapted in the search of metal ores but also to the study of geothermic sites. It was also used in oil exploration. It starts to be used in underwater prospection.
