Electric Ladyland
Electric Ladyland (1968) is an album of the group of Rock The Jimi Hendrix Experience.
He is regarded by much as the top of the career of Jimi Hendrix and one of the best albums of rock'n'roll of all times.
It is the last album recorded in studio and product by Jimi Hendrix. It was diffused initially in the shape of an double album LP.
Hendrix also began again and adapted, All Along the Watchtower of Bob Dylan.
In addition to Dave Mason, he collaborated with many musicians who did not form part of his usual trio: Chris Wood and Steve Winwood (of the group Traffic), Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane), Buddy Miles and Al Kooper (which played with Bob Dylan).
The album was #1 with the the United States and #5 with the the United Kingdom.
The recording
Jimi Hendrix was a perfectionist, 43 catches were necessary for " Gypsy Eyes" , and more than one score for the accompaniment with the guitar of Dave Mason on " All Along the Watchtower".Hendrix plays of the Basse, because of relational problems with the bass player of its group, No5el Redding, but also because it was not satisfied with their divergent musical evolutions.

The Making Off Electric Ladyland (DVD)
Realized by Roger Pomphrey in 1997, this documentary one hour of the series Classic Album attacks the chief of work of Jimi Hendrix Experience. Excluded some testimonys of time when Hendrix speaks about its third album, the documentary one is mainly made up of testimonys of the main actors of the album. Some left us since: Chas Chandler delivers its last interview thus to it, whereas No5el Redding, whose musical presence is discrete on this album, is divided between admiration and spite, going until preferring the original version of All Along The Watchtower with that of its former leader. The two men remember the chaotic environment of the sessions, of which they were the losers.
Mitch Mitchell also reconsiders him on the sessions, and the desire of the group to join the services of Steve Winwood (Traffic). But it is undoubtedly Jack Casady (Jefferson Airplane), low in hand, whose testimony of the sessions of Voodoo Chile is most evocative.
In spite of the years, Dave Mason (Traffic) is always also impressed by the wide one of the musical capacities of Jimi Hendrix.
Buddy Miles tells the sessions of Rainy Day, Dream Away/Still Raining, Still Dreaming , but it is without question the testimony of Mike Finnigan who is most interesting. To trust to have taken part in a historical recording, even if it did not touch a dollar…
Lastly, we find Eddie Kramer behind its console of Mixage, dissecting certain sessions tracks by track, showing the talents of Jimi Hendrix as a sound architect. On the end, it slips even a new solo (played with back) of Have You Ever Been (To Electric Ladyland) .
It is documentary interesting, but too in short for an album as rich as Electric Ladyland . A title as 1983 is only effleuré.
