Electorate
the electorate is consisted of the whole of the voter S which can thus take part in an election (local, national, professional, etc) having the Right to vote for this election. According to the countries, these voters are registered on the electoral rolls, either by a voluntary step, or automatically if they answer the criteria of the Right to vote. In certain countries, a voter registration card is given at the time of the inscription on the electoral roll.

France
In France, the electorate includes/understands 44,5 million voters for 62 million French; there would be 45 million potential voters, i.e. the nonprivate major French of the right to vote.According to several studies of INSEE, by adding to it the people who are unaware of that they are registered on the electoral rolls, approximately 4,9 million French is not registered or believes not the being (given 2004), figure which varies between 10% and 13,3% of the electorate over the nine last years.
Since 1997, the inscription on the electoral roll of their commune of residence is automatic for the young French reaching 18 years, age of the majority and the right to vote in France. For the municipal elections and European, the electorate is a little important since the citizens of the European Union residing in France can take part in these elections. They are registered on a complementary electoral roll.

The electorate of the State of the Vatican City is the Sacré College, which is composed of cardinals named to elect the pope.
Switzerland
In Swiss, the electorate at the federal level is consisted of the citizens of more than 18 years which have Swiss nationality and which are capable of understanding. In 2005, it was composed of 4 849 474 personnes.For the cantonal level or communal, it is necessary to consider the Constitution of the canton. It can envisage, for example, the widening of the electorate to the foreign residents (under certain conditions) or the lowering of old minimal (16 years with Glaris). On the other hand, the conditions of the electorate should not be more restrictive than the federal Constitution.
