Elchingen

Elchingen is a commune of Bavaria in Germany, to approximately 7 km in the North-East of Ulm/Neu-Ulm. It was created on May 1st, 1978 by the regrouping of three communes up to that point indépendentes: Oberelchingen, Unterelchingen and Thalfingen.

Elchingen is especially known to have been the place of the Bataille of Elchingen, left the Bataille of Ulm, in 1805, and its name is registers on the Triumphal arch to Paris.

In 1806, the marshal Ney at summer made Duke of Elchingen , title invented by Napoleon.

On the territory of Elchingen is the highway exchanger Kreuz Ulm/Elchingen , crossing of the highways A7 and A8.
