Elachistidae

The family of the Elachistidae is a family of microlépidoptères including/understanding many species in Europe. These are butterflies whose caterpillars are mineuses larvae of many herbaceous plants (Poaceae, Juncaceae and Cyperaceae mainly).

The adults have a lengthened body, relatively gracile. At rest, the wings are folded up behind, the former ones recover the posterior ones and the abdomen. they have average or long antennas, without bulges, nonpectinate in the males. the palpi jawbones are reduced, the labial palpi can be developed well or rudimentary. the proboscis is well developed. The former wings do not present the ocelles ones to the top.

The nervation of the former wings includes/understands 10 to 12 veins, that of the posterior wings is more variable including/understanding from 5 to 9 veins. The nervation is dissimulated by the scales.
