Westhouse is a common French, located between Strasbourg and Sélestat in the department of the the Low-Rhine.

Geography

Located in full heart of the plain of Alsace, in the Canton of Erstein, Westhouse is surrounded of the villages of Uttenheim, Benfeld, Sand, Kertzfeld and Valff. The Scheer runs in the south of the commune.

The locality is served by the secondary Road 83.

History

Economy

Primarily agricultural commune, it is established in the middle of the fields where one cultivates corn, corn and the tobacco essentially. The absence of industry and artisanal zone confer on this commune the calm one of common a dormitory, halfway between Strasbourg and Sélestat.

Places and monuments

Westhouse has a small parish church in the center of the village.

the first church dates from XIe century. It had a tower set up in XIIIe century and it was destroyed in 1895. The new church was built between 1895 and 1897 on the vestiges of the former buildings.
