Alexander Monro is a British Médecin , born the September 8th 1697 with London and dead the July 10th 1767.

It makes studies of medicine to Edinburgh. To London, it follows the courses of Francis Hauksbee (1666-1713) and of William Whiston (1667-1752). It follows the dissections of William Cheselden (1688-1752) to London and of Hermann Boerhaave (1668-1738) to Leyde.

He teaches the Anatomie and the Chirurgie at the school of surgeon in 1719 and is the first professor of Anatomie of the university of Edinburgh of 1720 with 1764.

He is the author of Osteology, off has treatise one the Anatomy the Human Bones which knows six editions until in 1758, An Account off the Inoculation off Small-pox in Scotland in 1764. Its work is published in collection in 1781.

It shows that the Jaunisse is caused by the obstruction of the biliary conduit.
