This family is not accepted by the majority of the botanists. It includes/understands only 9 Espèce S divided into 2 kind S:

Herreria , Herreriopsis

They are bushes crawling or of the lianas, rhizomateux, with rivet washers of sheets along the rhizome, of the south-west of the Brésil or Madagascar.

This family does not exist in traditional classification of Cronquist (1981).

The phylogenetic classification APG (1998) accepts this family, Herreriaceae Endl. (1841), and locates it in the order of the Asparagales .

But the phylogenetic classification APG II (2003) incorporates this family in that of the Agavacée S or Asparagacée S.
