El Salvador Jorge Blanco (born the July 5th 1926) is a Dominican politician. He was the 41ème President of the Dominican Republic of 1982 with 1986.
Lawyer and writer, it began his political career within the Unión Cívica of Santiago in 1963. It rejoigna PRD in 1964.
He was elected President of the Dominican Republic the May 16th 1982 with 47% of the votes (against 39% for Balaguer and 10% for Juan Bosch).
The July 4th 1982, hardly 12 days before it takes possession of the office of the Presidency, Antonio Guzmán, the Outgoing president, committed suicide of a ball in the head, in its office of the Presidential palace (Santo Domingo).
In 1984, to save the country of the which gallops economic crisis, it turned to the Fonds International currency (the IMF), which required austerity measures in exchange of a three years loan. These measurements, including the increases in price of food (sugar) and the gasoline, caused in 1984 and 1985 riots of protest in all the nation (70 † the 23 and April 24th 1984)
In 1988, Jorge Blanco was discovered culprit of corruption during his years with the presidency.
