El Muerto
The El Muerto is a stratovolcano currently extinguishes, which is at the border between IIIe area Chile enne of Atacama and the province Argentine of Catamarca (Département of Tinogasta). It is high of 6 497 meters.
Situation
It is about an important volcanic apparatus which is drawn up with 10 kilometers in the North-East of Nevados Ojos del Salado (6 879 m). Its cone is only very partially in Argentinian territory.The volcano El Muerto belongs to the northern edge of the small volcanic chain of the zone of the 27 degrees of southern latitude, chains of about fifty kilometers length, directed East-West along the argentino-Chilean border and sheltering several of the highest volcanos of planet.
In north, with a score of kilometers is the Chilean Laguna Verde, and it overhangs the depression of Atacama. It belongs to the volcanos close to the collar to the Paso to San Francisco. Its principal top of 6 488 meters of altitude makes of him the ninth volcanic top among highest of the ground.
