El Ecijano

Juan Jiménez Ripoll known as “El Ecijano” , born with Écija (Spain, Province of Seville) the June 24th 1858, died with Durango (Mexico, state of Durango) the February 5th 1899, was a Spanish Matador.

Presentation

He is presented in the form of a Novillero to Madrid the 1886. He takes the alternate with Madrid (Spain) the May 22nd 1890, with like godfather “Guerrita” vis-a-vis bulls of the Ganadería of Torres Díaz of Cortina. Having difficulties in find engagements in Spain, it then leaves in Latin America.

The October 16th 1898, it is seriously wounded in the arenas of Guadalajara (Mexico, state of Jalisco). The doctors then advise to him to cease toréer during several months, but he is unaware of these councils. The February 5th 1899, during a bullfight in the arenas of Durango, it dies suddenly victim of a peritonitis, consequence of the blow of horn of Guadalajara.
