El Cano
Manual Jiménez there Meléndez known as “El Cano” , born with Chiclana of Frontera (Spain, Province of Cadiz) the April 25th 1814, died with Madrid (Spain) the July 23rd 1852, was a Spanish Matador.
Presentation
According to its contemporaries, its physical faculties, its sobriety and its effectiveness with the Muleta were its principal assets vis-a-vis the bull. Moreover, it accepted the assistance of its compatriot “El Chiclanero” and had been the pupil of Juan León.Its seniority with Madrid goes up with the July 31st 1848, when it alternates with “Cámara” and “El Salamanquino”.
The July 12th 1852, in the Arenas of Madrid, it is seriously wounded by the bull “Pavito” of the Ganadería of the Duke of Veragua. He dies the next on July 23rd.
