El Apóstol

El Apóstol (literally “the apostle”) is a Argentinian Long-métrage of animation of Quirino Cristiani - also scenario writer and organizer -, carried out in 1917.

Synopsis

In this daring political satire, the Argentinian president Yrigoyen seeks to remove Buenos Aires of immorality and corruption using the lightnings of Jupiter. The city is soon in flames.

Comment

The film gained a certain success, but there remains about it no copy: all were destroyed in 1926, at the time of a fire in the trunks of the producer Federico Valle.

El Apóstol preserves all its importance, because it is the first feature film of animation of the history of the cinema.
