El Algabeño

Jose García Rodríguez known as “El Algabeño” , born on September 21st, 1875 with Algaba (Spain, Province of Seville), dead on January 7th, 1947 with Seville (Spain), was a Spanish Matador.

He particularly pointed out himself for his talents of estoqueador . If it handled the Muleta and the Capote only with little smoothness and a lack of obvious repertory, its safety, its personality, its sincerity and its effectiveness did of it one of the Masters of its time in the handling of the sword.

Career

  • Beginnings in Novillada: Seville on December 9th, 1894.
  • Presentation with Madrid: March 10th, 1895 at the sides of Bernardo Gavira. Novillos of the ganadería of Saltillo.
  • Alternate: Madrid on September 22nd, 1895. Godfather, Fernando “El Gallo”; witness, Emilio Torres “Bombita”. Bulls of the ganadería of the duke of Veragua.
