El-Mahalla El-Kubra (Arabic: المحلةالكبرى) is one of the more big city Egyptian, known for its textile industry and located in the center of the delta. Its population is estimated at 462.500 inhabitants. Largest of the textile companies present on the spot is the company Misr for Weaving & Spinning whose seat is street Talaat Harb.

Its football team, Ghazl Al-Mehalla, is one of principal in Egypt. She was founded in 1932 by the workers of the factory of spinning. The team gained the First Egyptian division in 1973.
