El-Biar
El-Biar is a common Algerian, located in the Wilaya of Algiers.
Geography
El-Biar belongs to the agglomeration of Algiers. It is structured by a very rich business district and smart residential districts.The name El-Biar originates in a word TURK meaning " PALAIS". The central place was conceived in a style " néo-mauresque" BEFORE the years 1930 and comprised the town hall, the Post office and the nursery school. Before independence a few kilometres from there the teacher training school teachers and the " were; college free-Moslem of Ben-Aknoun" , connected, like El-Biar, at the town of Algiers by the blue electric trolley buses of the company of Of Algiers Transport (T.A.)
During the War of Algeria, on March 5th, 1962, six leaders of the social centres were killed by a commando of the OAS at the time of the Assassinat of Castle-Royal.
