Origin and geographical distribution

The type of vine is obtaining Helmut Becker in the institute Institut für Rebenzüchtung und Rebenveredlung der Hessischen Forschungsanstalt für Weinbau, Gartenbau, Getränketechnologie und Landespflege with Geisenheim. The genetic cause is checked and it is a crossing of the type of vines Ehrenfelser X Reichensteiner carried out in 1964. The name is a homage to the Forteresse of Ehrenbreitstein in Coblentz
