Eguelshardt

Eguelshardt ( German Egelshardt in ) is a common French, located in the department of the the Moselle and the area Lorraine. The Village belongs to the Regional natural park of the Vosges of North and of the basin of life of the Moselle-is.

It shelters the Star of the Morning , a school for boys held by the Fathers of the sacerdotal Fraternité Saint-Magpie X.

Geography

This Village with vast Ban is located in the Vallée Falkensteinerbach and belonged to the Regional natural park of the Vosges of North. It is located in the middle of the Pays of Bitche, in country covered, on the Route driving of Bitche to Niederbronn.

The Agglomération is stretched in a very loose fabric in the Vallée of the Falkensteinerbach and along the Route of Waldeck. Halfway between these two zones, isolated on a light eminence, the parish church rises.

History

Polishing machines are visible in the center of the Village. The Nom of the Village is mentioned in its current form in 1329, Eguelshardt , of the name of old the German Hard , the Forêt with Pâturage S, and Egel of Egala , the Sangsue.

In 1337, the Château of Waldeck returns to the family of Deux-Ponts - Bitche then, in 1571, with the duke of Lorraine. Eguelshardt is castle and stronghold then, since 1594, Mairie of the seigniory of Bitche with the old strongholds of Gentersberg and Waldeck. The village is indicated to the 16th century with church and Fief of the lords of Ettendorf. In 1592, the farm of Eguelshardt is indicated as being in ruins. Eguelshardt and its dozen variations were transformed into Village at the 18th century because of the development of industrial activities installed along the Falkensteinerbach, and that are the Scierie S, forging mills, paper mills and Moulin S. In 1732, the Village, of recent origin, is still mentioned like simple firm. During the Second world war, the inhabitants are evacuated with Saint-Simon (Charente) on September 1st 1939. The Village is bombarded in December 1944 and is released the March 28th 1945 by the American troops . The Military Cross with bronze star is allotted to the commune for " its sacrifices, assistance brought to the escaped prisoners of war and his attachment to the France " .

Worships

From the spiritual point of view, the Village is an old subsidiary company of the Paroisse of Schorbach, set up in Paroisse of the archpriest of Bitche in 1802. The church of the Exaltation of the Holy-Cross, pretty building of pink sandstone, is built in 1854 with 1858.
