Ego

Ego (or sometimes ego ) is a substantive drawn from the Latin personal pronoun ego (“Me”). It generally indicates the Représentation and the Conscience which one has of oneself. He is sometimes regarded the base of the personality (in particular in psychology) or as an obstacle with our personal development (in particular in spirituality).

Ego as a philosophical concept

The ego would be according to certain authors the psychological equivalent of the Conscience, with the philosophical direction.
