Efflam saint

Efflam (or Efflamm, into Breton Eflamm, marked is written today) was the son of an Irish king, born in 448, married very young with Enora, he made vow of chastity. An angel helped it to resist temptation, and he flees in Brittany, unloading with Plestin, in the Trégor. He met the King Arthur which continued a dragon, made spout out a source with Saint-Efflam to refresh it, then requested in front of the cave of the dragon, which went to die while precipitating in the sea. His Enora wife joined it in an oratory that it had made him build. He died in 512.

The name is resulting from the Breton flamm (shining) or from the Latin flamen (Roman priest). In 994, one found his remainders in the Saint-Efflam vault in Plestin. On November 6th celebrates.

Quotation

… ours Holy, with its company, passed sea & came fortunately to emerge to coste from Brittany Armorique, in baye of sand, which is between Toul Efflam & Loc-Mikel, commonly known as the mile of strike, in the parish of Plestin, Diocese of Treguer, & their vessel arresta with respect to a large rock, which is in the middle of the strike (out of ground nevertheless), named Hyrglas. It there avoit for at the time, along the strike, very-large a forest, which S. Efflam & its troop, descendans of their vessel, transfer to leave a horrible dragon, which retiroit through the strike in its cave, distant of approximately millet not of this rock; which cave deep of nine was bent, & in avoit twelve in the circumference of its opening; but for fear with the track and trace of its claws, he was not discovered & was besieged in this cave, he avoit this easy way to go to moves back, so that to see the marks of his claws in sand, one had thought that he venoit to leave the place where it faisoit to only enter.
Albert Large the tells then how the dragon left its cave and top of a rock in bay precipitated where it drowned.
As for us, we will leave quietly bay of Saint-Efflam by Saint-Michel-in-Strike and will join Trédrez by the point therearone. From there we will take the way of the site of the Yaudet, small Gallic fortress then Roman which was used as unloading dock in Honora, the woman of Efflam saint.
Let us listen to Albert again the Large one to tell the history.
IX. However, the good Honora lady, which voyoit plûtost widowed that mother, since her expensive espoux had left it, did not cease crying; &, remembering, of the subject which luy avoit makes leave it, said to share soy: " And quoy (my expensive mary) me so much exhorted you to keep my chastity in vostre company; I there estois granted, with quoy thus leave me? Do you believe me so inconstant, to only hold the resolution, by yours average, I worts taken? Not, never rest I auray only I scache where you estes." Saying that, it laissoit to run its eyes two brooks of tears, which had fléchy the hardest hearts; but indicator that, to cry, its evil allegeoit not, it made secretly equip a batteau with leather well joined, bent & pitched; because in this time the septentrional people, as well of Isles as of the dry land, usoient of leather in their vessels, instead of Aix & of boards, as it is by this passage of Sidonius Appolinaris, in its Panegyrique AD Avitum :
Quin and Aremoricus Pyratam Saxona tract
Sperabat, cui SHOVEL salum sulcare Britannum
Ludus, etc
And estant themselves disguised, concealed court & entered inside, being let lead where it plairoit to God; which, by a special Providence, guided it in Le Havre of Coz-Gueaudet, the mouth of the river of Bequeathed, where it arrived, the third day of its loading; &, the withdrawn sea being estant, its vessel remained dry on sand, in one of the locks which the Governor had in this harbor, & there was found by the farmer of these locks, which, having sceu of it the subject of its arrival in these costes, & which it cherchoit young Prince Hybernois, named Efflam, luy said, which with three miles from there demeuroit a Hermite saint of the country & name that it disoit. The good Princess Honoured, having oüy this good news, thanked God, & requested this farmer to put it on the way to go towards the Saint. But noise of this meeting having esté revealed, the governor, with which appartenoient these locks, manda his Farmer & sceut of luy that it avoit found a vessel in the locks, to which there was a beautiful young person rams of a rare beauty, which disoit girl of Roy of Large Bretagnc, & cherchoit a Hermit, named Efflam, which vivoit in the Parish of Plestin, which she says estre his mary, & the avoit left to be used more freely for God, who it avoit led on main road to go towards its mary. This Lord, having heard this speech, took the post office & started to follow it, with any support, & made as well, as it reached it veuë; but God made it so light & luy gave such an agility, that still that it tuast its horse, through luy to give hope for them & of poster, nevertheless, she avoit always the front, until she had arrived at the Cell of S. Efflam; but, while it in attendoit the opening, it had the leisure to approach; however, like it avançoit the arm to want to be of it to seize, being estant supported, other, against the wall, the door came to open & it jumped inside, & this Lord was, at once, puny of his obstinacy & the unjust continuation that he faisoit of this young Lady; because the arm that it avoit supported against the wall firmly remained attached there, & celuy that it avoit wide for arrester the Princess Honoured became dry & arid. The poor fellow, seeing himself not less precisely than severely puny humiliated himself, begging Honora to take pity of his misery; she requested S. Efflam, her mary to relieve it: what it did & cures it; in reconnoissance of quoy, it gave to S. Efflam a beautiful ground that it avoit to build a Monastery there, & was turned over from there to soy, publishing by all the merits of the Saint. It seroit difficult to explain satisfaction that receut S. Efflam, when he saw that which luy avoit esté given for espouse avoit espousé even way of life that luy; he listened to all attentively told of his avanture, &, seeing it resoluë to spend its days to the service of God, he returned graces to his divine Majesté from there, & luy builds a small Cell, somewhat far away from his, luy expressly defending the aspect of its face, luy allowing however, to come from time to other, to visit it & speak with luy about the concerning things the direction about its conscience & safety about its Heart; what it luy granted, for fear the brittleness of the sex was not disturbed by an entirety & total cutting off of its conversation. The holy lady, spiritually plain with her dear husband, is delighted largely by this body separation & entirely devoted herself to the Speech & the contemplation of the things Celestes, assistoit in the Vault where it entendoit the Divine office &, at certain days & hours, it rendoit with the door of the Cell of its husband, which of inside, without opening its door, the entendoit, him parloit & him donnoit of salutary instructions: &, with its blessing, it retiroit in its small residence.
