Edward Glover
Edward Glover (1888 - 1972) is a Médecin and Scottish Psychanalyste . He began his didactic analytical formation following the councils from his brother, James Glover, with Berlin in 1920, near Karl Abraham until the death of this last in 1925.
Initially secretary of the committee of formation of the IPA and member of British Psychoanalytical Society (BPS), E. Glover rebelled then against the institution. He criticized Carl Gustav Jung (" Freud or Jung? " PUF, 1954) and especially Melanie Klein after having accommodated some of its work well and especially to have been the analyst of his daughter (the fifth), Melitta Schmideberg. The latter had become savage adverse with his/her mother.
It took an active part in the " Large Controverses" rejecting the theorizations kleiniennes whose group was however majority within the Company.
It started in 1942 the bursting into three group of the Company and it is its departure into 1944 which allowed the appeasing of the tensions and to avoid the scission.
