Edward Chamberlin

Edward H. Chamberlin (1899 - 1967) was a economist American born with Conner, Washington.

Chamberlin studied initially with the Université of Iowa (under the influence of Frank H. Knight), it was thereafter graduate University of Michigan, and received in 1927 its doctorate with the Université of Harvard.

It contributed to the development of the new theory of the International business, in particular in the field of competition. Its most substantial contribution is undoubtedly " The theory of competition monopolistique" ( The theory off economic competition ), that Chamberlin published in 1933. This same year, Joan Robinson published its book " The Economic one of competition imparfaite" ( The Economics off Imperfect Competition ).
These two economists are thus at the origin of most of the modern study of the imperfect competition.
