Eduardo Souto de Moura

Eduardo Elisio Machado Souto de Moura , born on July 25th, 1952, is a Portuguese architect who studied near the architects Fernando Távora and Álvaro Siza. Souto de Moura currently saw and works with Oporto where it built several universally recognized buildings. It is since 1991 teaching with the Escola Superior of Bleated-Artes (ESBAP) of Oporto.

Very early he wanted to lend to his buildings a certain atmosphere, without for that bringing by play of the useless elements. According to its clean dires, the wall is for him the central element and structuring architectural design. And on the basis of there, the stone is for Souto de Moura the most important construction material. Beside the marble and granite which are natural stones, it also used the concrete like hones artificial for the transposition of its formal concepts.

Beside these important projects, Souto de Moura conceived many houses and smaller public buildings. In the same way, its formal writing is found in some subway stations which were recently built in Oporto.
