Eduardo López de Romaña
Eduardo López de Romaña Alvizuri (Arequipa, March 19th 1847 - † Yura, May 26th 1912), engineer and political Peruvian. It was president Peru of 1899 with 1903.
It made studies of Ingénierie and a speciality on the bridges of railroad to London. He travelled to the Brésil to collaborate in railway work. He is turned over to the Peru in 1874. During the war of the Pacific, it joined the army like major general of avant-garde (1879).
After the war, he was elected Député of the Province of Arequipa (1895). In 1896, it was indicated to exert the place of Ministre in new the ministry of Promotion . In 1897 he was elected Maire of Arequipa, and also Senator for the area of the same name.
He belonged to the Civiliste party. Nevertheless, it became the President with the assistance of the National Coalition , which was an alliance between the Civiliste party and the democratic party. During its government, it has encouraged colonization of Valley S inter-Andean (i.e., the valleys which one finds in the Andes cordillera), and promulgated the Code of the Commerce (1902).
At the end of its mandate, it was withdrawn from the policy, until its death with Yura in 1912.
