Eduard Adolf Strasburger
Eduard Adolf Strasburger is a German Botaniste , born the 1844 with Warsaw and dead the May 18th 1912 with Bonn.
After studies in Paris and Bonn, it obtains its doctorate at the university of Iéna in 1866. It starts to teach at the university of Warsaw before taking a post of professor of Botanique at the university of Iéna of 1869 with 1880, then, of 1880 until its death, at the university of Bonn. He travels in particular with Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919).
He devotes himself to the study of the embryology vegetable and made new observations on the embryology of the Gymnosperme S. Its work on vegetable cytology is also pionnière.
Strasburger becomes foreign member of the Royal Society the November 26th 1891, receives the Médaille linnéenne in 1905 and the medal of money Darwin-Wallace in 1908. He is in particular the author of:
- Über Zellbildung und Zellteilung (1875).
- Die Angiospermen und die Gymnospermen (1879).
- Chromosomenzahlen, Plasmastrukturen, Verebungsträger und Reduktionstellung (1909).
