Edouard the Old one

Edouard Old the (871? - July 17th, 924) is one of the kings of England (899 - 924). Wire of Alfred Large the, he becomes king of the Wessex with died of his/her father in 899.

Edouard exceeds probably the military exploits of Alfred, by restoring the Danelaw with the Saxons, and while reigning on the kingdom of Mercie as of 918, after the death of his sister, Ethelfleda. He passes the beginning of his reign to be fought against his cousin Aethelwald, wire of Ethelred. He has approximately eighteen children of his three marriages, and probably an illegitimate child. He dies in 924 and is buried with Winchester. The portrait opposite, without real base, is carried out at the same time as other portraits of kings by an anonymous artist of the 18th century.
