Edouard Mignan
Edouard Mignan (1884-1969) was organist of the church of the Madeleine of Paris of 1935 to 1962. He was pupil of Alexandre Guilmant and Louis Vierne. Its compositions include 12 Parts new and Medieval Toccata. Originating in Orleans (like the current holder, François-Henri Houbart), it was named organist of the Benevolent Saint church of this city at 14 years. He obtained the Grand Prix of Rome in 1912, date on which he was named temporary organist of the large organ of the church of the Madeleine, succeeding Nadia Boulanger. He will become titular in 1935, with died of Henri Dallier. In 1917, it was named titular organist of the organ of Saint Thomas d' Aquin in Paris, posts that it gave up in 1935. Among his pupils, one can quote the French organist Francis Chapelet and the Canadian organist (deceased today) Georges-Emile Tanguay. Edouard Mignan was a remarkable improviser and it is by it hearing that Suzanne Chaisemartin decided to become organist.
