Edouard Knecht
Edouard Knecht (born in 1789 with Aachen - died in 1870 with Isle-Adam) is regarded as one of the principal introducers of the Lithographie in France. Nephew of Aloys Senefelder, inventor of the process with Munich in 1796, Knecht settles in Paris in 1818 rue de Lille and puts under operation first press. He opens on June 19th, 1819 Senefelder printing works and Co. he becomes manager then owner. It takes the name of Knecht-Senefelder printing works then. It settles with Isle-Adam in 1827 in the building of the current museum of art and history and dies in the city in 1870. It is buried there.
