Edouard Depreux

Edouard Depreux is a French politician, born the October 31st 1898 with Viesly (Northern) and deceased the October 16th 1981 with Paris. He was appointed and minister under the IVe République.

Biography

Edouard Depreux takes part in the combat of the First World War in 1917. He is gauze and decorated with the Military Cross. He adheres to SFIO at the 20 years age. After studies of philosophy, right and letters, he becomes lawyer. Socialist influenced by Jean Jaurès and Jean Longuet, he becomes city council man with Sceaux (1935) then general adviser of the Seine (of 1938 to 1941). He enters Resistance, sits at the clandestine management committee of the SFIO and takes part in the drafting of the clandestine Populaire .

With the Release, he is mayor of Seals, mandate which he occupies until 1959, and member of the provisional Consultative Assembly. He is elected appointed in 1946 and sits at the Parliament until 1958.

He is Minister of Interior Department of June 1946 in November 1947, he makes public the plot of extreme-right-hand side known as of the Plan Blue aiming at reversing the Republic, on June 30th, 1947.

Hostile with the CED and anticolonialist, it takes his distances with the SFIO. By twice, it chairs the socialist member of Parliament group of the National Assembly. He is opposed to de Gaulle at the time of the vote of nomination of 1958. He takes part in the creation of the autonomous Socialist party (PSA) become Socialist party Unified (PSU) and is the national secretary of 1960 to 1967.
