Edouard Delmont

Edouard Delmont , of his true name Edouard, Marius Autran , is an actor French, born the December 5th 1883 with Marseilles (France) and dead the November 22nd 1955 with Cannes (France), at the 72 years age. As much with actors of its generation, it is generally credited under the simple name with Delmont .

Biography

Initially blacksmith metallurgist like his father, Edouard Philippe Clement Autran, it was recruited as machinist by the theater of the Alcazar of Marseilles in 1914. Soon promoted manager under the direction of Franck Esposito it became itself actor about 1918, under the pseudonym of Delmont .

Its talent propels it to the Music-hall of Paris where it joined other Marseilles actors around Raimu. As from 1931 and until its death in 1955, it will be devoted primarily to the cinema and will play in more than 80 films.

It is one of the recurring interpreters of second plan of many films of Marcel Pagnol: In the Marseilles Trilogy of Pagnol, it changes character from one film to another: district or second Master in Marius (where it tries to convince Marius to embark), it incarnates Doctor Venelle (Félicien) in Fanny then César .

Another outstanding character in the small world of Pagnol, that of the Maillefer fisherman in the woman of the baker : he is there that which saw Aurélie, the woman of the baker, but of which the long account - that nobody has the right to stop - fact of cracking the baker who takes it with the throat to make it speak…

He plays also Maître Cornille in the adaptation of the Lettres of my mill by this same Pagnol or the good Amédée servant in Angèle.

He plays also Doctor Spiletti, who dies and ressuscite several times in Don Camillo .
