Edmond Michelet was a man Politique French. Born with Paris the October 8th 1899, it is deceased with Marcillac (Corrèze) the October 9th 1970.
Biography
It chairs the catholic Youth of Béarn. Militant of French Action until 1928 then social Catholicism. In 1930, he is president of the catholic Youth of Corrèze. June 17th, 1940, it distributes leaflets in the letter-boxes of Brive which denounce the capitulation and thus calls with Resistance through a work of Charles Péguy: " the argent". Chief of the resistance movement Fights in the Limousin (R5 area) under the name of Duval , it is stopped in February 1943 with Brive-the-Strapping woman by Gestapo. Transferred to Fresnes, it is off-set in September 1943 with Dachau. Reached typhus, it is released in June 1945 by the allied forces. Its deportation is told in its book Rue of FreedomElected official Appointed MRP of Corrèze in 1945, it is Minister of the Armies of the general De Gaulle from November 21st, 1945 to January 26th, 1946. Re-elected appointed in 1946 (2nd constituent National Assembly and National Assembly), it sits at the Palate-Bourbon but is beaten in 1951. It adheres thereafter to the RPF of which it becomes one of the principal leaders. Founder in 1947 of the Movement of the Independent Popular Republicans, which gathers them excluded or resigners from MRP for double-membership with the RPF. It is Senator of the the Seine between 1952 and 1959 (vice-president of the Conseil of the Republic in 1958). The June 9th 1958, he is Minister for the War veterans (Ministère de Gaulle) and Minister for the Justice of the January 8th 1959 with the August 24th 1961 (ministry Debré). It belongs to the Constitutional council of 1962 with 1967 then is elected appointed Finistere. He is minister of State, charged with the Public office, the April 6th 1967 with the May 31st 1968 (cabinet Georges Pompidou) then cultural Affairs (cabinet Jacques Chaban-Delmas) of the June 20th 1969 until his death.
Of 1962 with 1964, Michelet is international president of the European Center of documentation and information (CEDI). In 1963, at the request of the general De Gaulle, it founds the Association France-Algeria.
