Edmond Humeau

Edmond-Henri Humeau born the August 18th 1907 Saint-Florent-the-Old with , in the Maine-et-Loire, in Anjou, was a Poète and Résistant French.

Studies

Wire of a veterinary father, it makes his primary studies at the elementary school before going initially to the small seminar of Beaupréau then, for higher learning in Théologie, with the great seminar of Angers. It is then allowed with the sanatorium for monk of Voirons.

Career

Impassioned poetry as of its adolescence, he becomes French professor with Saint-Maurice, in Suisse. Then it returns in France at the end of 1932. In 1933 it marries Germaine Duvernoy with the parish Jeanne d' Arc… in Tunisia!

Its Parisian life implies it in many activities: writer of the literary re-examined Spirit of 1933 with 1950, the Tower of fire, Arts or mpde (Encyclopedia of the current world - Swiss review), of 1946 with 1951. It is in parallel posts some as of 1936 at the statistical university office until its suppression under the German occupation in 1940. Of 1940 with 1946, in station with the Ministry of Labor as organizer and director of the reintegration of the intellectuals, it comes to assistance of those which the Nazis and the collaborator French State track. In 1942 it joined Resistance in the Marco Polo network. It will obtain for its action the Médaille of Resistance and the Military Cross like soldier without uniform. He is then press attaché with the Economic council of 1947 with 1972.

Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1953, it also obtains many distinctions on the artistic level, particularly in poetry but also in abstract painting.

In 1953 still it discovers a little place of low-alpine Provence, Castellet d' Oraison, where it acquires, in July of this same year, a house which becomes its haven of peace. It receives there, on vacation, of many friends artists who will call this residence Humeaudière. It there multiplies the stays and arranges a office-library where, untiring worker, it reads, written, works in a well surrounded loneliness. Faithful it comes there regularly until the end from its life.

To Vanves, the July 20th 1998, at the 91 years age, this servant of arts and letters from there discreetly will meet the Pantheon of the artists. And according to its wishes it rests from now on, modestly, in the communal cemetery of the small village of Provence which it liked so much.
