Edmond Audran (* April 11th 1842 with Lyon - † August 17th 1901 with Tierceville in Seine-et-Oise)

Biography

Edmond Audran was raises ecclesiastical School of song founded by Louis Niedermeyer - famous the École Niedermeyer from which are resulting also Gabriel Fauré, André Messager and Claude Terrasse and where Saint-Saëns itself taught. Edmond Audran began his career as choirmaster of Saint-Joseph (Marseilles) until in 1877. He creates the Mascot in 1880 in Marseilles, on a booklet of Henri Chivot; it was a resounding success. He is requested by Paris where is given the Mascot , on December 29th, 1880. It is immediate glory: one trisse the duet now famous of the " Sheep and dindons". It composed thereafter many Opérette s.La Mascotte was its best succé among these many works
