Editors
Editors (and not “The Editors”) is a British group of independent Rock originating in Birmingham, composed of Tom Smith (Chant/Guitare), Chris Urbanowicz (guitar), Russ Leetch (low) and ED Lay (battery).
The epic amplitude of their music often make them compare with famous predecessors Années 1980 such as Joy Division, Echo and the Bunnymen, Kitchens off Distinction, etc They nevertheless acquired a first identity of group, surfant on the " new new wave" initiated by groups on the other side of the Atlantic like Interpol : icy atmosphere, sepulchral small pocket with the Peter Saville, cavernous voice of Tom Smith (who can point out Ian Curtis indeed), guitar incisor, battery syncopated, base lines powerful and oppressive, martial and obsessing melodies, esthetics of the urgency.
The old names of the group, before they sign in a recording company in September 2004, were (The) Pride then Snowfield .
Their first individual Bullets leaves in limited edition to 500 specimens at Kitchenware Records on January 24th, 2005. It quickly is supported and diffused with the the United Kingdom by radios like Xfm or BBC 6 Music.
Their first album The Back Room (July 25th, 2005) obtains an immediate critical success.
Editors made some appearances in France, in particular at the time of the first part of Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand or at the time of the Festival of the Old Plow 2006.
