Editions Philipp von Zabern

The editions Philipp von Zabern are a German Publisher specialized in the scientific publications relating to the Archéologie, the Histoire and the international Histoire of art. They were founded in 1802 by Philipp von Zabern with Mainz. Von Zabern was, under the First Empire, l'" Printer of the Prefecture " (Andre Holy Jeanbon Andre being then prefect).

Position on the market

In the market of the catalogs of exposure, von Zabern is well-known.

In accordance with indications of the publisher, the company is the largest publisher in the world specialized in archeology. Since 1960, approximately 3.000 titles were published by 5.600 authors, including inter alia 150 catalogs of exposure. Participations and co-operations

Since 1993, the Axel Springer Verlag holds a majority stake in the Zabern Editor. Springer dissolved its section of the books with 2003 and sold Zabern in Valiva AG, a holding in Zurich. The Zabern Editor belongs to 2005 in Wissenschaftliche Buchgesellschaft in Darmstadt, the company scientists of book, where it of as well is taken again as autonomous limited liability company.
