Edith Desternes

Edith Desternes (Paris 1901 - the Charity-on-Loire 2000), painter French girl of Louis Desternes author of " PAUL-LOUIS COURIER AND BOURBONS. The LAMPOON AND HISTOIRE" 1962 and sister of Suzanne Desternes, historian and author amongst other things of " MALIBRAN" 1969, " LITTLE STORY OF THE CONCILES' " MAXIMILIEN AND CHARLOTTE".

Raise and MUSE of the painter Gaston Simoes de Fonseca born in 1874 in Rio de Janero and died in Paris in 1943 (Pupil of L. Gerome), it forsakes its activity of creation of contemporary binding for painting in the Twenties.

It exposes its drawings, charcoals and Monotypes with Fonseca before war. In the Fifties it decides to be devoted to the painting annealed glass which it on several occasions presents to the Gallery Bruno Bassano (1956).

Ten years later, the Japanese painter Toshio Bando (1895-1973) encourages it to work the gouache. Extremely of these encouragements and its successes, it is in this technique that it will give best itself.

“Of the Gouaches of all the formats, a painting rich and coloured on the varied subjects often borrowed from the literature or poetry”.

Poetry of water and colors its gouaches will be noticed and appreciated critic art Raymond Charmet.

In the years 1990 it finds the taste for the painting annealed glass and it obtains the Grand Prix of the Gemmail in Lourdes. Its work is exposed to the Living room of Fall.

Desternes brushed the portraits of Marcel Proust, Virginia Woolf, Anaïs Nin, the actress Moune de Rivel and Sylvia Monfort, unit exposed to the Living room of Fall.

Friend of the philosopher academician Jean Guitton, it presents it to Katia Granoff at which he will expose in a recurring way.
