Edict of tolerance

The Edict of tolerance , signed by Louis XVI in 1787, allowed to the people not Catholique S to profit from the civil statue without having to convert (or make seeming) with Catholicism. The principal concerned ones were the Protestant S (the Jewish were not prone of king de France).

It was not thus at all of a recognition of the Protestant religion (it will be necessary to wait two years moreover, with the Déclaration of the human rights and the citizen of 1789 proclaiming the religious liberty), but about a big step in the religious pacification of the country: official end of persecutions.
