Edgar Cruvelhier

Edgar Roger Cruveilher , born the February 17th 1899 with Rozès (High-Vienna), is a Radio-navigant French missing at sea with the crew from the " Cross of Sud" on December 7th, 1936.

Biography

February 29th, 1916, at the 17 years age, it engages for the duration of the war in the French Army.

In January 1928, it enters to the Air-mail one. During an accident which has occurred on November 10th, 1929 between Algiers and Marseilles with a seaplane which was constrained to amérir, it is characterized by its diligence and its presence of mind, contributing for a strong share to the rescue of the apparatus. On this occasion, it then accepted the Congratulations of the Minister for the Air of the time. It was decorates with the Military Cross. It capitalized 4500 hours of flight and 10 crossings of the South Atlantic.

It disappeared at sea on December 7th, 1936, after twelve years of service, aboard seaplane " The Cross of Sud". the crew was composed of Jean Mermoz, chief of edge; Alexandre Pichodou, pilot; Henri Ézan, navigator; Edgar Cruvelhier, radio and Jean Lavidalie, mechanic.

They will be entitled to national funeral on December 30th, in Paris. He was regarded as a professional except par.
