Edgar Brandt (1889-1960) was Alsatian a ironworker of art and industrialist of the armament.

It is in 1902 qu ' it creates with Paris with 76 rue Michel-Ange the Brandt establishments where beside the ironwork it starts to produce various light armaments. In 1921 it settles, always in the 16° district of Paris, with the angle of the street Erlanger and the Murat boulevard. This building which sheltered its dwelling and its offices is described by Jean Locquin in the n° of March 1921 of the monthly magazine Art and Décoration , of many photographs illustrates this article. The architect was his collaborator and friendly Henri Favier. The building always exists, but was modified, there is integrated in a vaster real unit, seat of the company Thomson-CSF, company heiress of the company Hotchkiss-Brandt. Its activity towards heavier armaments the conduit to be settled with Châtillon-under-Bagneux.

Its company will be nationalized in 1936 and thanks to its sale, it repurchases several companies of mechanics. By repurchasing the Industrial Mechanical company of Precision (MIP) of Tulle or the important company Hotchkiss, it diversifies and in 1956 is created the company Hotchkiss-Brandt.

He is the founder of the mark of electric household appliances Brandt.
