Eddy Paape

Edouard Paape , known as Eddy Paape , born the July 3rd 1920 with Grivegnée (Liege), is an author of Belgian Cartoon.

Biography

After having studies technical arts with the Institut Saint-Luc during eight years, Eddy Paape launches out in 1940 in the drawing of animation, which gives the opportunity to him to meet André Franquin and Morris which will propose to him to enter to the edition Dupuis, indicator which it did not manage to remain with his only work of painter, once the studio of cartoon HALF-VALUE LAYER closed.

In 1946, it takes the changing of Jijé, left with the the United States, on Valhardi . It remains on this Cartoon until 1954, while illustrating in parallel Beautiful stories of the Uncle Paul in Spirou . Always in Spirou , it creates in 1958 the series Marc Dacier with Jean-Michel Charlier. It is at that time that it meets Greg, which will make it return in 1966 to the Journal of Tintin , following an estrangement with Dupuis.

In 1967, it begins there the series Luc Orient whose scenarios are signed of Greg. Slownesses of Greg slowing down the series, Paape begins the series Yorik of the Storms and Udolfo with Duchâteau. In 1978, it takes part in the review Spatial of the Deligne editions.

As from 1988, helped by Sohier, it draws the triptych of the Jardins of the Fear on a scenario Jean Dufaux and Sohier at Dargaud then Humanoïdes Associés. Three later, it finds Duchâteau on Carol detective before signing his last cartoon with Greg in 1992-1993, Johnny Détective .

Since, Eddy Paape took its retirement.
