Eddie Vedder

Eddie Vedder (born Edward Louis Severson III the December 23rd 1964 with Evanston, Illinois) is especially known as being the singer of the group Grunge Pearl Jam since its creation in 1990. He is recognized for his song Baryton and is perceived as being an important cultural personality in the medium of the alternative Rock.

First years

Vedder was born in the banlieu from Evanston with Chicago. He is the son of Karen Lee Vedder and Edward Louis Severson Jr. His/her parents divorced in 1965 whereas Eddie was only one year old. His/her mother quickly remariée herself with another man, Peter Mueller. Eddie believed that he was his true father during a few years.

In the middle of the years 1970, the family including Vedder and her three young half-brothers moved with San Diego in California. It is at this time that the Eddie young person, who had received a guitar with his twelfth birthday by his mother, saw his love for the music to take life. Towards the end of its adolescence, his/her parents divorced. His/her mother and her half-brothers left California to return towards Chicago, but Eddie remained with Mueller not to have to change school.

It is after the divorce which Eddie learned that Severson Jr. was his/her true father. He remembered to have seen it whereas he was younger, but believed that he was only one friend of his parents. However, his/her father was then already deceased of the Multiple sclerosis. The relation with Mueller, which had never been very happy, became more tended. It gave up the school and joined its family in Chicago. It changed its name for Eddie Vedder, " Vedder " being the family name of his/her mother.

In 1984, Vedder is again turned over to San Diego with his/her boyfriend, Beth Liebling. It recorded cassettes demonstration and occupied various jobs to earn its living.

The first works

Vedder had already some contacts in the musical medium. One was Brad Wilk which became the Batteur of Rage Against the Machine a few times later. It had also friends within a group which produced spectacles of homages to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In 1988, he became the singer of the group Bad Radio. With this group, he wrote and sang the song " Better Man" , a song based on the relation between his/her mother and her father-in-law, Mueller. This song was thereafter integrated into the album Vitalogy of Pearl Jam and became popular.

After having left Radio operator Bad in 1990, a friend of Vedder, Jack Will go (which was beater of Red Hot Chili Peppers then, afterwards, that of Pearl Jam), gave him a cassette of a group of Seattle which sought a singer. Vedder recorded its voice on three songs which became " Alive ", " Ounce " and " Footsteps". The three songs treat course of an young man who learns the truth on his real parternity (" Alive"), similar to its own history, which becomes a serial killer (" Once"), is captured then condemned to the capital punishment (" Footsteps").

After having heard the song, Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, respectively guitarist and bass player, invited Vedder to come to Seattle to follow a hearing. They were immediately impressed by the voice of Eddie and by the fact that he knew of it a little by the way of Andrew Wood, which was the singer of Mother Love Bone.

To have shortly after joined the group which became Pearl Jam, Eddie was invited to off provide its song to Temple The Dog, group that Chris Cornell had created in memory of Andrew Wood.

Pearl Jam

Smith, Wolfmother, Sleater-Kinney, Mike Watt and even remaining members of The Doors.

Personal life

He married twice, with Beth Liebling which he divorced in September 2000 then Jill McCormick, which is also the mother of its Olivia daughter who was born the June 11th 2004.

He is also a friend of Pete Townshend, Chris Cornell, and was a friend close to Johnny Ramone and was even there whereas this last was on its bed of death.

Eddie went to school San Dieguito High School which is now known as being the San Dieguito Academy. It gave 10,000$ to the school for the construction of a theater.

In its spare times, Eddie is a surfer and is concerned with the conservation of this pastime. He is a friend of the surfers like Kelly Slater and Laird Hamilton as well as Jack Johnson and Ben Harper which is them also impassioned surfing.

He is also worried by the environmental causes, carrying even a tattooing with the logo of Earth First! on the right calf. He is vegetarian and is an activist, defending the animal cause.

Vedder likes also the Basket-ball. He is an inveterate fan of bulldozers of Chicago and bound of friendship with Dennis Rodman which was a player of this team. The song " Black, Red And Yellow" of Pearl Jam refers to Rodman. He is also an amateur of Baseball and its preferred team is the Cubs of Chicago. It is good friend with the launcher Kerry Wood. Vedder sang celebrates it " Take Me Out to the Ball Range " for Cubs with four recoveries since 1998. In 2007, it launched the first ball of the part to the Wrigley Field, the ground of Cubs.
