Ecquevilly
Ecquevilly is a common Frenchwoman located in the department of the Yvelines (District of Mantes-the-Pretty) and in the area Île-de-France. It is to 18 km in the east of Mantes-the-Pretty.
The village was called “Fresne” jusq' at the XVIIIe century before taking the name of Ecquevilly.
The inhabitants are called Ecquevillois.
Geography
The commune of Ecquevilly extends in the valley from the the Seine. A timbered part, to the south of the commune, belongs to the Forêt of Alluets.It is served by the secondary road 113 (ex national 13) and by the Autoroute of Normandy (13 have). The communes bordering are Chapet and Morainvilliers in the east, Bazemont and the Alluets-the-King in the south, Mureaux in north and Bouafle in the west.
History

Ecquevilly has remote origins, one found in his ground of many objects dating from the Gallo-Roman time. Ecquevilly was called originally Fresne, this name appears in an act of the year 1058. The Count de Meulan made there donation with the monastery of Jumièges, of the grounds on which the village will be built.

- Saint Martin's day Church: church of the 12th century. It depended on the Saint-Nicaise priory of Meulan, which concerned the abbey of the Nozzle-Helloin then. It underwent, at various times, several restorations and rehandlings, in particular following the collapse of the ceiling of the nave in 1818. The nave was remade at the 19th century.
