At the beginning of the Years 1990, the economy of the Sierra Leone is bloodless.

The State sierra-leonais was placed under supervision of the the IMF in 1978. Victim of the clandestine traffics, the official productions of diamonds, of wood, did not cease regressing. The country was not industrialized.

The civil war worsened the situation. Today pacified but rolled by the conflicts, the Sierra Leone east one of the poorest countries of the world. Formerly flourishing, tourism was ruined by the civil war. The overseas investments are non-existent, the revival of the economy is precarious and is slowed down by the difficulties of reinstating the war veterans in the work world.

However the economic situation of this country shows the possibility for improvements: the Growth rate is positive and the IMF mentioned progress established in the stabilization of the economy and the recovery in the course of the sectors agricultural and mining.

The Sierra Leone has a real economic potential of share the richness of its basement (gold, iron, bauxite, diamonds, rutile…), size of its agricultural potentialities, the possibility of there redévelopper tourism.
