Economy of the Cayman Islands

The Tourisme is, according to the last estimates of 1990, the principal activity of the Cayman Islands, with an annual income of 326 million dollars.

The sector more developed is the tertiary . One finds in particular a number very important of banking institutions, because of tax flexibility of the country.

The Agriculture and the breeding play a secondary part, while the linked activities with the sea are developed still enough.

Since 2002, the government accentuated the fight against the tax avoidance, whose independent measurement is collaboration as regards tax avoidance with the the United States.

Unfortunately, no serious measurement will be taken thereafter, in particular as regards fight against the money laundering or of fight against corruption.

Not being a nation, this territory is not prone to the reports/ratios of UNO or other organizations on the organized crime. Although no precise figure is thus available, the Cayman Islands today are still regarded as a financial refuge privileged by the organization criminal and of the Cartel S of South America.
