For 5 years, following the lightening of the conditions of Credit, the banks have recorded an explosion of the Prêt S Immobilier S and especially of the Consumer credit. In spite of the inflation of the cost of living, the household consumption continued to increase in 2002, drops in 2003 and is stabilized in 2004. The loans are mainly used for the purchase of the vehicles but increasingly intended for real purchases. The Croatian families which traditionally lodged under the same roof three generations benefit from the rise in the standard of living to acquire residences.
Since March 2004 the banks exchange their “black lists” of customers (approximately 44.000) who takes again the names of those having received several warnings or being continued for non-payment. A register of unpaid is being studied and could be born in 2005.
The debt of the households remains particularly high: it is a source of concern to short and medium term.
